Impact

The Housing and Economic Mobility Act (S. 787 and H.R. 1737) would make housing more affordable by investing in the Housing Trust Fund and Community Development Financial Institutions, strengthening the prohibitions against discrimination in the Fair Housing Act, establishing grant programs to remove local regulatory and zoning barriers to housing, and assisting homeowners whose mortgages went underwater during the Great Recession–all of which ultimately reduces the amount of homelessness.
