CEO Corner: Week of March 30, 2026

It’s been a minute since our last CEO Corner. It may not seem like it because literally everyone I talk to is working harder than ever, so suffice it to say that there’s a lot going on as always.

It was a real pleasure to be with many of you earlier this month in San Diego for the Alliance’s Leadership Summit on Ending Homelessness. It is always inspiring to be in community with so many of you on the front lines of this crisis, especially during these challenging moments.

During times like this, it’s so important to consider what leadership demands of us – each of us – regardless of our roles or titles. In my keynote at the Summit, I broke it down to four main things:

  • Leadership is about showing up - especially in situations where you have a unique role to play.
  • Leadership is about being focused on the goal, even during distractions.
  • Leadership is about recognizing the urgency of the moment and moving accordingly.
  • Leadership is about keeping a throughline of joy and love and purpose: without that piece, the rest is unsustainable.

This week, I want to encourage you all to set aside some time to consider what kind of leadership your community needs, and where you and your teammates have opportunities to step into those roles – even in smaller ways. It’s also a great time to think about how you can support the other leaders who are stepping up to answer the challenges we face right now.

The brings me to this week’s newsletter. I strongly encourage everyone to read through this week’s edition of our Best Practices newsletter that provides updates on:

  • Administrative challenges, including project transfers

With so many unusual threats and disruptions to  programs that our neighbors rely on, it is just too easy to feel powerless. But after our time together in San Diego, I know for certain that this field has the leaders needed for this moment

As always, I want to thank everyone for all the work you all do every single day. I continue to be inspired by it and by you.
