As we head into Thanksgiving, it may be a challenge to find gratitude this year. But in this moment when homeless response systems are being destabilized by the federal government, I am deeply grateful for everyone who is speaking up to their elected leaders.
Even as we are all working to unpack the consequences of these deeply harmful decisions (and the difficult choices they have forced upon our communities), last week, more than 5,000 people signed up for our webinar on the CoC Program NOFO, including 2,000 people who have never been on the Alliance’s email list before. That, alone, is enough to give me gratitude despite everything.
Thank you for your advocacy, your engagement, your passion, and for the lifesaving work that you all do every day.
And I know from the messages and emails we have been receiving that folks have a lot of questions about whether there will be litigation in this case. There is no clear answer at this point. The only thing I can say is that we will keep you posted – as we always do – when we learn about movement in this area.
In the meantime, I want to be certain that everyone has the resources they need:
- The Alliance’s newly-updated SYSTEM Series page, including a contingency planning toolkit and information on applying to this year’s CoC NOFO.
- An interactive map to demonstrate the impacts of HUD’s permanent housing cuts on the state and CoC levels (NEW!).
- New national polling to share with your local leaders and members of the media so that they understand the deep concerns that Americans have about the timing and the consequences of HUD’s actions.
- The Alliance’s recent Advocacy 101 Training Webinar.
The team at the Alliance is continuing to work non-stop to provide you with the insights and resources we all need to weather this moment. I want to say once again how thankful we are to be locking arms with you all at this moment.
With Gratitude,
Ann
