The Vulnerability Index-Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (VI-SPDAT) has long been a key tool in communities’ assessments of how to prioritize service delivery for people experiencing homelessness. Communities are shifting towards other tools, as the VI-SPDAT is now being phased out – but this leaves a gap in how to prioritize people for services.
Future installments of the series will include information on defining “evidence-based practices,” describing emerging models, and other tips for implementing the next generation of assessment tools.
Looking Back at the VI-SPDAT Before Moving Forward The first brief in this series examines the history of the VI-SPDAT, lessons learned from its use, and what this means for future tools. |
