Active Requests for Research Proposals
The Alliance is requesting proposals for a funding opportunity that will award a one-time grant of up to $50,000 to continue an existing project or start a new project for its Workforce Innovations Grant.
Through rigorous research and analysis, the Homelessness Research Institute (HRI) digs into trends, explores solutions, and supports communities in their work to end homelessness. HRI also works closely with local and national partners to close key research gaps. This work includes:
State of Homelessness Report
Our Annual State of Homelessness report offers a comprehensive look at national data, showing what’s working and where more focus is needed.

Informing An End to Unsheltered Homelessness
Unsheltered homelessness is a challenge for far too many people. We’re focused on breaking the issue down — understanding the scope, barriers to ending it, and what’s working to move the needle. Whether it’s getting people connected to permanent housing or scaling up emergency resources, we’re zeroed in on solutions that meet the realities facing communities across the country.

Shedding Light on the Workforce Crisis in Homeless Services
The workforce crisis in homeless services needs more attention because it’s a massive barrier to progress. We’re digging into what’s driving burnout, why retaining staff is so hard, and what needs to change to strengthen the field. It’s about making sure enough frontline workers have the tools and support they need to make an impact.
Experts Working Together to Drive Change
We convene three networks of homelessness experts focused on research that fills knowledge gaps and advances policy and practice goals.
Equity Is the Core of What We Do
Equity is at the core of our research. We focus on diverse populations, like BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, to ensure their unique needs are addressed in policies.
