Continuums of Care Need Fiscal Year 2025 Award Funds NOW
A bipartisan Congressional directive required that HUD noncompetitively renew all projects that expire during calendar year 2026 unless otherwise awarded within certain timeframes. Yet, the process to issue and execute grant agreements and disburse grant funds continues to move too slowly.
As of May 21, all awards for FY2025 have been announced. Yet only 48 out of the 6,689 awards have been fully executed.
Without Congressional pressure, HUD may continue to slow-walk this process, straining staff, jeopardizing relationships with landlords and other stakeholders, and disrupting programs. Your Members of Congress need to hear directly from you about why these funds are essential in your community, and the real-world consequences of further delaying them.
Sample Talking Points:
If you would prefer to send your own personalized email or call your members’ offices instead of using the form to the right, here are some tips for what to include. Please let Charles Williams (cwilliams@naeh.org) and Tamina Chowdhury (tchowdury@naeh.org) know if you choose this option so the Alliance can track Congressional outreach.
Highlight that HUD is creating unnecessary and costly delays.
- HUD has failed to adequately follow Congressional direction to immediately and non-competitively renew funding in a timely manner.
- Despite thousands of projects needing urgent renewal, as of May, only 428 grant agreements have been issued and only 48 of those have been fully executed.
Share the community-level impacts of these delays.
End with a specific request.
