Outreach Engagement Initiative Purpose
This volunteer opportunity seeks to address local community gaps by distributing care packages containing hygiene supplies, non-perishable snacks, and printed materials about available local resources and services. Through this initiative, we aim to offer immediate, compassionate support while fostering dignity, empathy, and long-term community support.
Objective Goals Are To:
- Educate People with Lived Experience (PWLX) on effective, trauma-informed outreach that emphasizes dignity, safety, and trust-building.
- Initiate meaningful connections with unsheltered individuals by offering essential resources in a compassionate, respectful way.
- Foster a culture of empathy and active community engagement around our unsheltered community.
- Serve by providing nourishment, hydration, hygiene and access to pertinent information.
- Encourage peer-led participation and community support.

Before signing up, be sure you are able to make the committment to the full event. There are only a few spots available and we need all hands on deck. (We are serving about 120 members of our San Diego community.)
It gets dark in San Diego around 5pm, so if you venture out, be sure to always stay with at least one other volunteer, if not a larger group.
