National Alliance to End Homelessness Statement in Support of the “HEROES 2.0” Act

< 1 min

September 30, 2020, Washington, D.C. – The National Alliance to End Homelessness today expressed its strong support for the recently-unveiled “HEROES 2.0” Act. It encouraged good faith negotiations to ensure that these essential funds can rapidly get to those who need them most.

“The House bill includes critically important homelessness and housing resources that will have an immediate impact on people experiencing and at imminent risk of homelessness. Further, these funds will help to prevent a future tidal wave of new homelessness for those who have lost their jobs or been ill, and will owe thousands of dollars in back rent as eviction moratoria end. This is money they just don’t have,” said Nan Roman, President & CEO of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. “This Act is an important step that vulnerable Americans need right now to mitigate the health and financial impacts of COVID-19.”
