People experiencing homelessness are uniquely at risk for contracting COVID-19. The Alliance’s Homelessness Research Institute has compiled a fact sheet on COVID-19 and homelessness, based on researchers’ recent recommendations on how to serve this vulnerable population during the pandemic.
These recommendations were informed by factors that may both make people experiencing homelessness uniquely vulnerable to COVID-19 and could greatly increase homelessness. These factors (such as an aging population, previously existing health conditions, access to general wellness care, homeless population growths) should inform a broad range of policies and practices for the foreseeable future.
