Donor Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

The Alliance collects and uses personal information from donors that includes donor name, address, telephone number, amount donated, donor comments and email address. Tax laws require the Alliance to keep contact information and contribution levels of donors on file.

How We Use It

The Alliance will never publish, sell, trade, rent or share the names, email or mail addresses or telephone numbers of our donors. The Alliance will use contact information (email, telephone number and address) of donors for these purposes only:

  • Distribute receipts for donations
  • Thank donors for their donation
  • Inform donors about upcoming fundraising and other activities of the Alliance
  • Use for internal analysis and record keeping
  • Report to relevant U.S. and state agencies (these reports are not for public inspection)
  • Contact donors about changes to this policy

All electronic communications from the Alliance contain unsubscribe options and a link to our privacy policy. Donors contributing online can choose to donate anonymously, though the Alliance will still receive basic donor information (billing name, city, state) which is kept in an anonymous donor record file. Donors may also share their communication preferences in the comments section provided. You also may contact Jasper Vaughn at jvaughn@naeh.org to update your communication preferences at any time.

Financial Information

All access to donor financial information is strictly limited to the professional staff that processes this data. No such data are given to any person, organization or group that does not need to access that data. Online donation transactions are encrypted while in transit and are not stored by the Alliance. Payment information is processed directly through PayPal.

We Abide By the Following Donor Bill of Rights

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To ensure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the nonprofit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:

I. To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

II. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

III. To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements.

IV. To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

V. To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.

VI. To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.

VII. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.

VIII. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.

IX. To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.

X. To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
