Use thse sample letters as guides for contacting your Representatives in the House urging them to provide $2.664 billion for the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD)’s McKinney-Vento programs and contacting Senators urging them to provide this same funding level for McKinney as well as $20.854 billion for the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD)’s Section 8 Tenant-Based Rental Assistance program in fiscal year (FY) 2017, and urging Members to sign-on to the House or Senate Dear Colleague letter (currently being circulated by Representative Moore in the House and Senators Merkley and Gillibrand in the Senate). Direct these letters to the attention of the person who handles housing issues for your Member’s office.
We have set a goal of taking at least 300 advocacy actions including letters and calls to Members of Congress, with House and Senate letters sent by March 9. After sending your letters, make sure to contact Julie Klein at jklein@naeh.org or Jaimie Colman at jcolman@naeh.org so we can keep track of the total number of letters sent and calls made.
