Sign-On Letter to Increase McKinney Funding and Protect USICH

July 5, 2016  |  Publications

An impressive 66 national organizations and more than 648 state/local organizations signed onto our letter urging Appropriations leadership to increase funding for the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistants Grants program (to $2.487 billion, the amount included in the House T-HUD bill), and to protect the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH).

The funding level the letter asks for would represent the biggest one-year increase in 20 years and would provide housing for approximately 40,000 more people than this year! It is also important to protect USICH, which is on track to sunset in 2017 and threatened by funding cuts, so that the agency can continue forging partnership to ensure the most strategic use of Congressional resources.

Thanks to the many of you who signed your organizations on to demonstrate your support of ending homelessness in America to Appropriations leadership! You can continue to push your congressional delegation on this by sending a copy of the letter to the housing staffer in your congressional offices reiterating your support (or letting them know you support it if your organization did not sign on).
