The HUD-VASH program is a joint program of the Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Veterans Affairs (VA). Congress should continue to make ending homelessness among veterans a top priority by providing $75 million within HUD and $278 million with VA for new HUD-VASH vouchers in FY 2014, the amount requested in the President’s Budget Proposal to house an estimated 10,000 additional veterans.

Recommendations for Effective Implementation of the HEARTH Act Continuum of Care Regulations
The purpose of this document is to help Continuums take advantage of opportunities in the interim Continuum of Care regulations to further the use of national best practices in their communities. The Alliance’s recommendations focus on coordinated assessment, transitional housing, rapid re-housing, and governance and performance measurement. Homeless Services and Medicaid Enrollment
This fact sheet highlights key information for beginning conversations with community leaders and partners about health care benefits enrollment, including where to go for more specific information. Under the Affordable Care Act 2010, new state programs and processes could affect how vulnerable homeless people receive medical services, behavioral health treatment and long-term supports; and how these services are funded in communities. In many topic areas, definitive answers to questions that may arise are not yet available, or may vary from state to state. The Alliance will continue to update this resource as new information becomes available.
Making Effective Use of TANF
The resource provides an overview of how some communities are using TANF funds for short-term rent assistance and how TANF agencies can help improve the self-sufficiency of families.
Ending Family Homelessness: National Trends and Local System Responses
Prepared by the Corporation for Supportive Housing and the National Alliance to End Homelessness, this paper provides information on national trends that are suggesting significant changes in the country’s approach to ending family homelessness and guidance for responding to these changes by creating well-designed local systems.
