Day 1: Where the nation stands on youth homelessness
Today, Los Angeles, Austin, and Cleveland launch 100-day challenges to accelerate an end to youth homelessness in their communities. The energy we witnessed in Austin this week as all three communities gathered to set their goals and plans was inspiring. We are looking forward to seeing the innovative changes these cities implement. A Way Home America, the campaign coordinating the 100-day challenges, says it best: we are at a critical time. Veteran and chronic homelessness are declining thanks to systemic shifts to Housing First and a federal and philanthropic focus. Many of the same solutions are being scaled to end homelessness among single individuals and families.

On Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. the Alliance is hosting a Reentry 101 webinar. Experts from the criminal justice system will cover: the basics of the criminal justice system, reentry and how they intersect with homeless service systems; typical pre-release services and discharge planning; how community supervision works, and how homeless service providers can work better with their local criminal justice and reentry providers.
When a Child Has a Home Coloring Pages
Join us as we raise awareness of family homelessness to get communities, states, and the Federal government to focus policy solutions and funding toward ending this crisis. As part of this campaign we are collecting images and stories that represent the things a child should be able to do, but can’t, because of their lack of permanent, stable housing. We are asking children across the country to draw a picture for the Alliance showing us what life is like at their homes. Below are three different coloring prompts to choose from. Feel free to submit just one or all three!
